In Incineration Bottom Ash (IBA) Sorting Plants, the recovery efficiency of downstream magnetic and induction separators relies entirely on how the material is presented to them. If slag is dumped in thick, uneven piles, the magnetic fields cannot penetrate, and valuable metals are lost to the tailings.

The Electromagnetic Vibrating Feeder is a high-efficiency quantitative feeding device designed to solve this exact problem. Installed beneath Buffer Bins, it evenly, quantitatively, and continuously conveys lumpy or granular slag onto the sorting belts, ensuring a perfect "monolayer" feed that maximizes your plant's metal recovery rates.

Core Working Principle: Electromagnetic Resonance

Unlike mechanical feeders that rely on rotating motors and belts, the electromagnetic vibrating feeder operates using the principle of electromagnetic drive and mechanical resonance, resulting in zero frictional wear on drive components.

  • Electromagnetic Pulses: The coil is energized by a single-phase, half-wave rectified current. During the positive half of the current, the coil generates an electromagnetic force, pulling the armature backward and storing potential energy in the main leaf spring.
  • Resonant Release: During the negative half, the magnetic force drops to zero. The spring releases its stored energy, snapping the feeding trough forward.
  • High-Frequency Vibration: Operating at standard 50Hz AC power, this cycle repeats 3,000 times per minute, creating a rapid, continuous micro-vibration.
  • Parabolic Conveying: Because the vibration angle is offset, the slag inside the trough is continuously thrown slightly upward and forward in a parabolic trajectory, flowing smoothly without heavy friction against the trough bottom.

Core Advantages for WtE Slag Processing

Advantages Specific Benefits for IBA Sorting
✅ Precise Stepless Adjustment By simply adjusting the output voltage via the control panel, operators can linearly scale the feeding volume. This allows perfect synchronization with the belt speed of downstream Eddy Current Separators.
✅ Instant Start / Stop Unlike mechanical feeders that spin down slowly, the electromagnetic feeder stops the instant power is cut. This prevents material pile-ups and blockages during emergency line shutdowns.
✅ Extremely Low Energy Consumption Because it uses resonance rather than a large driving motor, it consumes a fraction of the electricity of a traditional belt or apron feeder, significantly lowering plant OPEX.
✅ Zero Lubrication Required With no rotating parts, bearings, or gearboxes, there is absolutely no need for lubrication. The maintenance workload in dusty WtE environments is virtually zero.

Key Application Scenarios in Resource Recovery

  • Eddy Current Separator Feed: The most critical application. Ensuring a single, thin layer of crushed IBA passes over the ECS magnetic rotor to guarantee maximum aluminum and copper ejection.
  • Primary Crusher Feeding: Providing a steady, metered flow of raw slag into Primary Crushers to prevent jamming and motor overloads.
  • Automated Batching: Used in downstream aggregate mixing plants to quantitatively mix processed slag sand with cement or asphalt.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Won't highly abrasive bottom ash quickly wear out the steel trough?

A: Actually, wear on the trough is extremely low. Because the electromagnetic feeder utilizes a high-frequency parabolic throwing motion, the slag is effectively "bouncing" forward rather than scraping heavily against the metal bottom. For extremely abrasive environments, we can also line the trough with replaceable wear-resistant plates (like Hardox).
