In any bottom ash processing plant, extracting bulk iron metal is a critical first step. The belt electromagnetic separator (also known as a suspended magnetic separator) is a heavy-duty, self-cleaning magnetic separation device specifically designed to extract large, heavy ferromagnetic impurities (scrap iron) directly from conveyor belts.
By generating a powerful deep-penetrating electromagnetic field, this equipment serves as the first line of defense while effectively recovering valuable scrap iron. It prevents large iron chunks from tearing conveyor belts, clogging cone crushers, or damaging the precision Kevlar belts of downstream eddy current separators.
Suspended directly above or at the discharge end of the material conveyor belt, the separator continuously extracts iron from thick layers of waste incinerator slag.
Incinerator bottom ash often contains tangled long wires and heavy engine blocks, posing challenges for conventional permanent magnets. Our electromagnetic series products deliver exceptional magnetic force required for extreme conditions.
| Advantages | Specific Benefits for IBA Sorting |
|---|---|
| ✅ Exceptional Penetration Depth | Generates magnetic fields far deeper than permanent magnets, extracting deeply buried heavy ferrous fragments from thick layers of uncrushed raw bottom ash. |
| ✅ Fully Enclosed Resin Casting | Internal coils are vacuum-cast with specialized electrical resin, delivering superior heat dissipation. This design ensures complete dust and moisture resistance while withstanding corrosion from wet, toxic slag. |
| ✅ Armored Discharge Belt | The reinforced iron discharge belt withstands impacts from sharp, heavy scrap metal, effectively preventing tears and ensuring continuous automatic operation. |
| ✅ Downstream Equipment Protection | Prevents heavy iron materials from entering secondary crushers or high-speed sorting equipment, effectively avoiding major equipment damage and costly downtime losses. |

A: For conventional applications with thin material layers, permanent magnet separators are cost-effective and require no power to maintain the magnetic field. However, when processing incinerator bottom ash—which features high material density, heavy weight, and often operates in thick layers (deep bed loading) on wide conveyors—electromagnetic separators are strongly recommended. They possess deep penetration capability to extract heavy ferrous contaminants from the bottom layer of the conveyor belt.
A: No. Belt magnetic separators are specifically designed for dry extraction of large iron pieces from conveyor belts. Moist fine iron particles (<3mm) adhere to wet slag and are difficult to lift upward via air suction. To extract fine iron particles and purify slag, our wet magnetic separators in the washing circuit must be used.
