In wet Incineration Bottom Ash (IBA) processing, the washed slag sand exiting the Slag Washers contains a high amount of free water. To convert this wet material into saleable, easy-to-transport secondary construction aggregates, rapid moisture reduction is essential.

The IBA Dewatering Screen is a heavy-duty, dual-motor vibrating separator specifically engineered for this task. It efficiently strips free water from the slag, producing a drip-free aggregate ready for immediate stockpiling, while directing the muddy underflow water to the Filter Press for zero-liquid-discharge (ZLD) treatment.

Core Working Principle: Self-Synchronous Vibration

The dewatering screen utilizes two high-performance vibration motors rotating in opposite directions. This creates a synchronized, linear vibrating force that drives the material process.

  • Negative Incline Feeding: Wet slag is fed onto a screen deck featuring a unique dual-angle design (typically a 5° negative decline at the feed end changing to a 45° upward incline at the discharge end).
  • Water Pooling & Drainage: The negative incline causes water to pool at the back of the screen, allowing gravity and vibration to force the free water down through the polyurethane mesh.
  • Upward Conveying: The linear vibration forces the solid aggregate to climb the 45° upward slope.
  • Final Discharge: As the material climbs, residual moisture shakes loose and drains back into the pool. The resulting aggregate discharged from the top is incredibly dry and stackable.

Core Advantages for WtE Slag Processing

Advantages Specific Benefits for IBA Sorting
✅ Highly Efficient Dewatering The dual-angle design maximizes water separation. Discharged IBA aggregates typically have a moisture content low enough for immediate, drip-free truck loading or stockpiling.
✅ Premium Polyurethane Screen Standard equipped with high-wear, corrosion-resistant PU screen panels. The slight flexibility of PU actively prevents fine, sticky slag from blinding (clogging) the precise drainage holes.
✅ Heavy-Duty Fatigue Resistance The screen box is welded from thickened steel plates with reinforced ribs. High-quality rubber buffer springs effectively absorb impact loads, ensuring structural integrity even under heavy, wet slag.
✅ Modular Maintenance The PU screen panels feature a modular plug-in design. If a section wears out due to sharp glass or metal in the slag, only that small panel needs replacing, drastically cutting maintenance costs.

Key Application Scenarios in Resource Recovery

  • Final Aggregate Preparation: The last stage after wet washing to produce dry, high-grade secondary building sand from incinerator bottom ash.
  • Heavy Metal Concentrate Dewatering: Removing water from the heavy metal concentrates (copper, gold, stainless steel) recovered by the Jig or Shaking Table before bagging.
  • Construction Waste Recycling: Dewatering washed sand recovered from concrete and demolition debris.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What happens to the muddy water that falls through the screen?

A: The underflow water, which contains ultra-fine ash and mud, is directed via a slurry pump to a thickener and then into our Filter Press. This ensures that the water is completely cleaned and recirculated back into the plant without any environmental discharge.

Q: How often do the PU screen panels need replacing when processing IBA?

A: Polyurethane (PU) is highly resistant to abrasion and chemical corrosion. While lifespan depends on your daily tonnage and the sharpness of the glass/slag, PU panels typically last 6 to 12 months. Because they are modular, you only replace the specific panels that are worn, rather than the entire screen deck.
